pIndex | | pIndex is a utility that runs in the background and rebuilds Point® indices periodically. This utility is useful in environments where indexes become corrupted or files are being added or copied. Indices can get out of synch with files in the directories for various reasons, including crashes, copying files from one directory to another, and certain internal conditions. This can normally be correct by running a rebuild manually from within Point. If you are running an environment with multiple users accessing the same Point data, it can be challenging to keep the indices up to date. pIndex fixes this problem by re-indexing periodically in the the background without requiring a user to manually rebuild indices within Point. Please note: if you are using Point verions 5.1 and have selected the new indexing method when you installed, pIndex WILL NOT update the new index files. This is due to the method Calyx has used with the new indexes. You can still use pIndex with the former indexing methods. We are planning to release a version that addresses the new indexing near the end of the year (2005). Download / View pIndex Manual | |
