pSQL Version 1.0 pSQL Frequently Asked Questions
Q. I have my own database. Can I synchronize with it? A. Yes. All you need to do is set up the relationships between your database and Point. First, you show pSQL which database to connect to, which table to use, and which Point fields go in which table columns. Multiple data types are supported.
Q. Can I synchronize with a normalized database? A. Not effectively. Point is a flat file. If data were synchronized from the SQL database back to Point, the database structure would have to match the flat file structure. Either that, or pSQL would have to use a defined SQL file structure. To make this product as flexible as possible, we designed it so you could match the fields and columns any way you want. This allows a flexible, two-way synchronization.
Q. Can I connect with remote databases? A. Absolutely! You can connect to a MySQL database on your web server located in Hong Kong or an access database on the same drive. All you need to do is provide the data connection and logon information.
Q. Does pSQL work with future versions of Point? A. MacroTech and Calyx are separate entities so we don’t always know when a change will affect the way things synchronize. So far, the data format hasn’t changed significantly and has always been compatible with our tools; however, we don’t have control over future changes may be made in Point. We anticipate future compatibility but cannot guarantee it.
Q. Is there a demo version? A. Yes. You can download a demonstration version that is good for 30 days from the date you install the demo.
Q. Can we order on line and download the software? ![]() A. Yes. Go to www.mtig.biz/psql.htm and click the BUY button. Your order is taken on line and a download link will be presented or e-mailed to you. |
